It seems that the TV symbol was a kind of ‘feedback signal’ telling us that we had entered, or about to enter this ‘midpoint’ or ‘void zone’ within. I would emphasise that it was our ‘entering this ‘midpoint,’ which had actually triggered the ‘energy phenomenon’ in which we then experienced in our own personal way, the enlightenment of a full-blown ‘Kundalini Awakening.’

  Looking back at the TV symbol, I then realised an important fact:

  Although the “snow-effect” shows no signal, and seems to indicate that there’s “nothing” there, it is actually showing all signals, all frequencies, all information at once. The “snow-effect” on a TV – or in audial terms – the “white noise” between two radio stations – is the scrambled chaos we call “noise” – i.e., everything! . . nothing and everything at the same time! 

  This paradox of being nothing and everything at the same time, reminded me of the Transcendental Void of Eastern mysticism and religion – not that I was well-versed in Eastern mysticism at the time as I was only beginning research into it – but having experienced the “Mother” of all mystical experiences, this connection with the mystical Void, also known as the ‘Absolute,’ was unequivocal – but this is something we will came back to later.

  Putting aside this ‘void’ for the moment, and whatever deeper meaning it had for us – our attention turned to the two stations or channels of the TV set.

As already mentioned, The TV symbol was telling us that our consciousness was resting between two “channels” – as if the whole of our consciousness had gathered together into a fine point between them.

  The best analogy we came up with at the time, was that the colourful, vibrant, imagery of a well-tuned TV station could be a metaphor for a certain reality or dimension. As we know, we can tune into many different channels or stations by pushing a button on our TV set or handset. Paul and I often toyed with the idea of ‘parallel universes’ and ‘parallel realities’ all existing on different frequencies that maybe we could tune into if we were able to find that “tuning button” or “tuning mechanism” within us.

  Our first thoughts were, that maybe one of these two “channels” was our reality, and that the “other” was another reality altogether.

  Again, this very idea had been illustrated in the film Poltergeist – i.e., the scene featuring the “snow effect” between two stations or channels which acted as a portal or “doorway” between our dimension, and another.

  Now whether it was understood in this way or whether the conscious decision to include this scene was inspired by some kind of subliminal or subconscious impulse on behalf of the scriptwriter of the film – who merely thought that the scene seemed right somehow – the fact remains that the same information was being delivered to us – and delivered to all of us who saw the film – especially those of us who could interpret it.

  Again, our interpretation was, that the TV symbol in our dream was actually signalling to us; feeding-back at us through its symbolism, the fact that our consciousness was actually resting in-between two realities or two worlds, within a kind of neutral ‘non-locative’ nether region.’

  We then discussed the idea that the blank area between any two TV channels could also be used to symbolise a void.

  This meant that like the null space between two tracks on an old long-playing vinyl record, a ‘void’ area existed between each and every reality – dividing and separating them. This void area reminded me of the esoteric ‘Still Point’ – where everything is reduced into a zero point . . . infinity.

Realising this, we had to look at this ‘void’ in terms of human consciousness – meaning that access or entry into another reality, could only be accomplished through a dramatic transformation in one’s own consciousness – which seems to be the case with the tribal Shaman – who by first entering into a trance state (ekstasis) is able to traverse the ‘inner-space’ of his consciousness so as to reach other worlds and other realities.

  Keeping the Shaman in mind, my thoughts turned to this ‘trance-state,’ which was a good description of this ‘zero’ or ‘neutralised zone state’ in consciousness, which acted as a kind of interface – not only between one level of consciousness and another, but also between one reality and the next.

  My thoughts, were, that this ‘void’ area within one’s consciousness acted as a kind of ‘transition state’ between phenomenal realities, dimensions and worlds – something like the “Stargate” – an extraordinary concept which has found a popular niche in the imagination of the collective through the medium of contemporary science-fiction.

  This ‘void,’ ‘transition-point’ or “stargate,” reminded me of the mystical Abyss that is said to exist within one’s consciousness.

  It is also said that The Abyss is often encountered by a dying person who then has to cross it to reach the “other side.” Could this mystical “Abyss” be the dark, “black tunnel” often experienced by ‘Near-Death’ experiencers before they enter the light of another world or dimension? This meant that somewhere in our consciousness, we all have a ‘transition-point’ or point of access: a “revolving doorway” between all parallel realities in our dimension and even between our dimension and another. I then thought that maybe we could utilise this ‘midpoint’ by first accessing it and then moving through it to another destination in time and space – i.e., ‘travelling without physically moving.’ 

  Maybe this was how we could reach another reality in this dimension, or even another reality in another dimension.

  If all dimensions and their realities are located within the same space and only divided by frequency, then one does not have to physically move anywhere to access these other realities. One merely goes through this ‘void’ – which is a ‘blackhole’ in one’s consciousness.

We later discovered that this void is not unlike the ‘blackholes’ that are said to exist in the far reaches of space . . . but I’m “jumping the gun” a bit here, so more on this later.

  I thought that maybe what the symbol was trying to convey to us, was that this ‘midpoint’ is also a “gateway” – especially when the “lecturer” in Paul’s dream, was able to put his arm through the TV set while it was de-tuned to the “snow effect” between channels. Of course, at this stage in our enquiry this ‘midpoint’ in consciousness raised more questions than it could answer, but still we persevered.

  We then reminded ourselves, that there was also a transcendent aspect to this ‘midpoint’ state of consciousness.

  Remember, it was after this TV demonstration which featured in his dream that Paul then found that his consciousness had gathered together within that ‘midpoint.’ Paul didn’t enter another reality or world . . . it was as if he was poised between one level of consciousness and another, or between one world and another. It seems that by remaining neutral and indifferent while in this state – thereby sustaining it – Paul had triggered the ‘energy’ or ‘Kundalini’ phenomenon’ which led to an experience of illumination and enlightenment.

  This in mind, we thought that maybe what the TV screen represented was what the Eastern Mystics often refer to as ‘The Transcendent Void’ or ‘Universal Void’ – which is said to lie at the centre of our consciousness.

  It seemed as if this image of a man with his arm through the TV set, was telling us that we can actually access another reality or dimension through this Void and that our consciousness can make a “leap” through it . . . a “leap into the Void.”

  Again, what was being displayed on the TV screen also seemed to be indicating that this Void existed in-between different realities. We then thought that aside from being a mere crossing point between one world and the next, it seemed that compared to our normal states of consciousness, this ‘crossing point’ was itself a transcendent state of consciousness or ‘being.’

Again looking at the climax point of our core-experiences, it seemed that by sustaining awareness within this point, one could also reach the ultimate level of consciousness – the Source of all creativity itself . . . the ‘Deity’ within us.

  Our hypothesis was, that not only was this ‘transition point’ a “gateway” to other dimensions or realities, but it was also a “jump-gate” to the higher levels of one’s own consciousness. Our intuition was, that, If by our own will, we could intentionally enter this ‘midpoint’ and sustain ‘conscious awareness’ there, then maybe we could have some control over our own consciousness and its creative processes. Maybe we could access any information placed anywhere in space and time and even information pertaining to other realities.

  This seems to be the case with ‘Remote Viewers,’ who when given certain co-ordinates can view the information at those places.

The remote viewer is not restricted by time and space, as is the case of those who have ‘out of body’ experiences in which they seem to actually “travel” to different destinations in time and space by use of a “body of light” vehicle.

  Moreover, it seemed that this ‘midpoint’ was not only a “doorway” or “gateway” into other dimensions or realities, but it was also a “gateway” into the Source or Centre of the Self – ‘one’s consciousness,’ where like the TV “snow-effect” and radio “white noise” – in which all signals are being picked up at once – all the information pertaining to our reality and all other realities is all superimposed and fused together at one point.

  This meant, that at a “point” somewhere within our consciousness – which we will refer to as the ‘Source’ or ‘Centre’ – we each contain the information of the whole cosmos. In terms of the cosmos we could say that this Source and Centre within our consciousness, is the same centre from which the universe exploded into existence after the “big bang” – what the physicists have termed the ‘proto-atom.’ It would seem that this “Centre-point” in consciousness also acts as an interface between dimensional levels of consciousness and also between one world or reality and another.

  As I said, this TV symbol crops up time and time again in other people’s accounts – especially those connected with the so-called “alien-abduction” or “alien-encounter” phenomenon. Maybe the symbolic use of a TV in dreams – and especially paranormal experiences – had some real significance, as if this particular symbol was being used by “another intelligence” to teach the experiencer this very thing – i.e., that other realms or realities do indeed exist.

  Now in response to this, the first question that many of us would ask is, ‘”who,” or “what,” is this “other intelligence” and what does “it” represent to us?

  Well among other things this so-called “other intelligence” may even be ourselves; maybe a hidden and more powerful element of our own consciousness. It would be logical to think that this “other intelligence” must lay beyond this ‘midpoint’ that my brother and I had accessed before our core-experiences in which we then seemed to have come vis-à-vis with the Source and Centre of Consciousness itself. Maybe this “other Intelligence” is the Centre Point of our own consciousness and that of the collective – meaning that everyone of us has this same Centre within – this ‘Source’ or ‘Centre’ only ever being acknowledged properly by one having actually accessed this ‘midpoint’ consciously. (I’ll give the reason why I say ‘consciously’ later.)

  My brother and I then pondered on the reasons why this particular image was being used, and we had to agree that the image of a mundane TV set was something that most of us would be able to identify instantly, because the TV is now an essential component of the home and our everyday lives.

  Today the TV is like another member of the family and is now an icon of 20th century culture, and so it would be a familiar symbol regarding the information pattern of our present reality, our mind-set or internal dialogue – especially those of us who live in the Western Hemisphere. If another intelligence – even if it was a hidden part of our own consciousness that we are frequently separated from – wanted to “nudge” us or ‘awaken’ us slowly to the realisation that other dimensions and parallel realities exist, then it seems the most obvious thing to use as a symbol would be a contemporary TV set. And of course the TV would also be the perfect analogy if this “other intelligence” wanted to show us that there is an actual “doorway” or ‘access point’ to these other dimensions and realities, because the “white snow effect” between stations on an ordinary TV set would symbolise this point of access perfectly, as illustrated above.

Of course, going by accounts of so-called “alien abduction,” it seems that this “gateway” is actually being used. Take the following account for example: (The words are spoken by an “abductee,” a woman named Sandi.)

‘I am sitting in the corner watching TV, and there is something on the hill. I looked up through the window. There is a light. I didn’t know if it was on the road or in the pasture. It got brighter, like it was turning toward me. I looked at the light a long time.

  The longer I looked, the heavier I got. My arms were heavy. My legs were heavy. I felt like a balloon that was heavy. I felt like I was all blown up . . . that I was too heavy to move. I sat there and looked at the light. I couldn’t move . . . I was so heavy. And . . . the TV had gone off. The TV had gone toward snow and it was really loud. It was very loud! I tried to get up and turn it down and I couldn’t get up. I was so heavy. Then I started looking at the TV, at the snow, trying to find something in the snow, trying to find a word or face. [sighs] I couldn’t see anything in the snow that I could recognise. But I kept trying and then . . . then I looked back up at the light. And I looked at it for a long time more. [Long pause] I feel like my body . . . is . . . is raising up. It’s raising up higher and higher out into the night . . . [Grimaces and sighs] My other body is still in the chair, and I feel light. It’s like I’m going up, up into the night, higher and higher and . . . higher . . . higher . . . way up into the sky and looking down . . .’ [1]

Sandi then describes being taken on board a “craft” of some kind and examined on an operating table – as is typical of “abduction” accounts.

  What is interesting about this account is that Sandi had described an ‘Out of Body Experience.’ Sandi said that her other body (physical body) was still in the chair. It is as if the abductions and the examinations that often follow, are being conducted in some kind of ‘astral dimension’ – which may be the natural habitat of the intelligence that had taken Sandi. Again, we have the TV “snow-effect,” which for us symbolises a “gateway” into another level of consciousness – or even another dimension or reality. Of course the “snow effect” that Sandi had seen on her TV could also be interpreted to be some kind of hypnosis method, being used by “another intelligence” . . . maybe, but there’s no denying that Paul and I had uncovered a vast amount of information from the TV we saw in our “dreams” prior to our core-experiences.

  Although the existence of other realities and dimensions seems evident in light of all these “abduction” accounts, many of us are doubtful of such things. To take these insights further we had to consider the existence of “other realities” as an acceptable premise because this is what this ‘energy phenomenon’ as regards our experiences seemed to be indicating – even though this message contained within the image of a simple TV set was very subtle. It seems that one has to be inquisitively sensitive to see it. And of course this would mean that those who would recognise the deeper significance of this symbol and not let their critical faculties throw it aside as a ridiculous quirk or vagary, would have passed the first test and so they would deserve to be taken further in their understanding of it and what it means.

The answer as to what it really means and what it is telling us, is that one has entered the HYPNAGOGIC STATE between waking (objective-conscious) and sleeping (subjective-subconscious) states.
