Humming Noise

Gary:

During February 1992, some strange things were happening with me. At night, I experienced a humming in my ears and this lasted for a few weeks. It didn’t seem as if it was related to any physical disorder like the so-called ‘ringing in the ears’ that people usually get. This was a definite mechanical hum. If I cupped my hands over my ears it would get louder and seem as if it was inside my head. Sometimes the pitch and tone of its frequency would change slightly with the variable shapes of my cupped hands. It was mostly concentrated on the left side of my head and though it seems trivial while relating it, it wasn’t like anything I had experienced before . . . this noise was definitely inside my head.

It was also about this time that I began reading more about the teachings of Krishnamurti. As I said earlier, I picked up The Krishnamurti Reader by chance in a second-hand bookshop. It was as if something" was telling me to buy it, and so I did. I didn’t realise at that time that this and his other books would be a vital ingredient to my understanding of many things as to what my brother and I was going through – especially that of the ‘Neutral point,’ or Source-Centre which it finally led me to. If it wasn’t for my break-up with Nikki, I would never have been open or sensitive to the deeper messages in his books or the understanding I now have of the paranormal; the insights of its knowledge, and its path to a further understanding of the more transcendental experiences related to it.

All this is self-evolution. All this taught me that something good always comes out of something bad, and that something bad always comes out of something good. They are both two sides of the same coin – and of course they relate to the two sides of our dual-perception. We are always trying to push the pendulum one way to experience happiness from something good . . . but we don’t realise that after pushing the pendulum to its limit, the pendulum is eventually going to have to swing back the other way. I also realised that the “bad” experiences are the stepping-stones to something higher if we are sensitive enough to realise it. And from this realisation we can maybe find the middle, central, ‘neutral path’ that takes us away from this constant repetition of our pendulum-like focus.

Red Light Seen over Paul’s Home

This account cannot be verified as the person whom it belongs to is now deceased, but I thought I would include it all the same.

Yvonne’s parents – Paul’s in-laws – live in the same housing block as Paul and Yvonne. Sometime in February 1992, an elderly woman neighbour told Bess (Yvonne’s mother,) that she happened to look out of her window the night before and saw the strangest thing. She said she saw a strange red light hovering above Bess’ apartment block – meaning that she saw this red light also and almost, directly over Paul and Yvonne’s home. Of course this cannot be verified, as the woman died of cancer a few years ago as I’m writing this, but in the light of the other events that were happening about this time, maybe this red light had some association. Again, this was in Peckham where Paul and Yvonne lived. Compare this with Martin Tiedman and David Cox’ sighting.

The UFO over Clapham

Paul:

“This was April 12th, 1992. I spent the day over at my parents, and what I spent the day doing was looking at Gary’s books. Ironically, they were mostly UFO books that I was looking at. I finally gathered about four or five books together and asked Gary if I could borrow them. Of course, he said yes. One of these books was Communion by Whitley Strieber.

"Anyway, it was about 11: p.m. when we left. We said goodbye, got in the car and drove home towards Peckham.

"My wife Yvonne was in the front and our son Paul was sitting in the back.

"We went through Balham, which is a route I don’t normally take. It’s a straight run, and when we got near to Clapham Common – at the junction of Nightingale Lane where it meets Clapham Road – we stopped at some traffic lights. There was quite a bit of traffic on the road, and it was a wet and ‘drizzly’ night. As we sat there, something caught my eye through the top right-hand corner of the windscreen. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing . . . it was really weird looking. It could best be described as a hazy pink ball of light. It looked really out of place up there in the sky, and it was quite large. It was moving erratically . . . zigzagging down to earth. It wasn’t going fast it was just floating. I later read about the “falling-leaf motion” associated with UFO’s and this describes the manoeuvre I saw. I believe that what could be seen, as a zigzagging motion was really a spiralling motion. If a person were underneath they would see it as spiralling down. This thing looked like a sphere with a hazy glow around it, and it didn’t make a sound. The odd thing was that there was a lot of traffic in front and it didn’t look like anyone else had seen it. There were plenty of people around us in other cars . . . but nobody seemed to have seen it . . . everything went along naturally.

"Anyway, a split second after seeing it I thought I was imagining things. Of course when it was still there, I said to Yvonne “Look . . . look at that up there!” Yvonne didn’t say anything but she was watching it. I said, “Do you see it?” and she said “yeah.” I said, “What the bloody hell is that?” And this thing was moving slowly, and it gave off its own light. It certainly wasn’t a balloon because it glowed from the inside out and it was quickly spiralling down – a manoeuvre too fast for a balloon. It wasn’t a light that was attached to any aircraft . . . it was too big. You could see that this thing was just a sphere on its own. The colour was a reddish pink. The traffic then began to move and the object disappeared obscured by the buildings that we were driving towards. I carried on straight and it was difficult for me to turn right. I spoke to my son Paul and asked him if he had seen it, he replied “yes.” He was very quiet. I asked them both “What do you think that was?” and they both couldn’t explain it; they were just as amazed as I was. And I began thinking . . . ‘How ironic, I borrow these books from Gary, and now I actually see one.’ As I say, this thing seemed totally out of place, but the traffic just moved as usual.

"The next day I phoned Clapham police station and the policeman I spoke to told me that no one had reported seeing such an object.”

"Later that year during August, we went away to Devon. We stayed for two weeks in a caravan a friend owned. On the second week, I got a bit bored so I told Yvonne I was going to drive to Exeter and find a bookshop so I would have something to read.

"I drove into Exeter, and found a large department store. I finally got to the section on UFO’s. There wasn’t a lot to choose from, but I found a large hard-back book with colour illustrations so it looked easy but interesting reading for the rest of this holiday, and so I bought it – not realising that Gary already had most of this book, but the particular format he had it in was a magazine periodical called ‘The Unexplained.’

"Later, back at the caravan I was flicking through this book to see if there was anything interesting in it . . . and there right near the end of the book was a map that caught my eye because it was a map of Clapham and Balham. I got excited about this and I turned it back a few pages to get to the start of this section. The heading was titled “UFO’s OVER LONDON.” And in this article was a chap who had photographed silver disk-shaped objects back in 1966. He lived in Balham, and it was on Tooting Common that he used to photograph birds.

"One day something caught his eye and he photographed a UFO. But on the map, the flight path of this UFO corresponded with the UFO we saw that night, and it was also reported to have been pink and to have fallen to earth in a ‘falling-leaf’ motion . . .”
